Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)
WHAT IS STEWARDSHIP? Stewardship is, quite simply, the practice of living as if life were a gift. People who think of life as a gift use their time, talent, power and money in ways that reflect appreciation and gratitude. That is Stewardship. Plain and Simple.
HOW ARE MY CONTRIBUTIONS USED? Our annual budget is prepared during the fall by staff and lay leaders. The Executive Council approves the final budget at its January meeting. The Executive Council has an annual independent review conducted by Waugh & Associates. Copies of the annual budget are available in the Church Office and are distributed at the church’s annual meeting in May of each year.
WHY PLEDGE TO THE CHURCH? A pledge of money to Broadmoor Community Church is a commitment to provide financial support to the mission and ministries of Broadmoor Church for the upcoming year. Pledging is the practice of directing one’s intentions regarding their resources. It follows a truth observed by Jesus when he said, “Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matthew 6:21)
HOW DOES PLEDGING HELP THE CHURCH? Our pledges allow the church to plan for its programs and ministries without having to guess what the annual giving will be in any given year.
WHAT IS AN APPROPRIATE PLEDGE? Determining how much to pledge is an individual decision. Regardless of income or assets, each of us is called to share a portion of what we have. Consider giving at a level consistent with your income, your other obligations, and the role that Broadmoor Church plays in your life and the world.
WHAT IS PROPORTIONAL GIVING? Giving a percentage of one’s income is called proportional giving.
WHAT IS TITHING? Tithing is the biblical practice of giving 10% of one’s income to God’s work. Some members of Broadmoor Community Church choose to give a tithe.
WHAT IF I’M NOT SURE WHAT I CAN AFFORD TO PLEDGE? Even though people sometimes find themselves in challenging financial situations, making the commitment to give, no matter how much, puts this spiritual discipline to work in your life. If your income and expenses are uncertain this year, you might make your pledge based on a conservative estimate of your expected income and increase your giving if income is larger than estimated.
CAN I CHANGE MY PLEDGE? You may change your pledge at any time—either to increase or decrease. Contact the church office to adjust your pledge.
Giving statements are mailed on a quarterly basis.
